THUNDERGUARDS MOTORCYCLE CLUB

The Thunderguards Motorcycle Club originated in 1965 in Wilmington, Delaware. One of the club's founders, "Buckie", was responsible for giving the club its name.

The first members and founders of the Thunderguards were: Buckie, Junkyard, Fishman, Billy C., Charlie, Gordie, and Cuppie. The next group of members to come into the club were known as the 7%ers. In order of seniority, they were: Sam, Joe, Lensey, Sonny, Soulman, Big Leonard, and Marvin.

In the beginning, meetings were held at the homes of the members. In 1966, the club acquired their first clubhouse which was located at 9th & Wilson Streets in Wilmington, Delaware. Shortly thereafter, in 1970, they relocated to Gordon Street aka "The Alley", in Wilmington, DE. It was 1983 when the Thunderguards moved to their third clubhouse at 28th & Northeast Blvd, where they are currently located.

In 1979, the founders formed a board and Sam was appointed first President of the board. The club began to expand up and down the east coast and mid-west. The founders appointed six members as co-founders to govern the club.
